Glue guns can be purchased in low temperature and high temperature hot-melt versions. Low temperature glue guns heat up to about 120º C and are more suitable where a high temperature is undesirable. High-temperature guns} heat up to approximately 195°C and give a stronger bond. Also available are dual glue guns which feature a switch so that both low and high temperatures can be used for different purposes.
For industrial purposes, there are a comprehensive range of heavy duty industrial glue guns available which are designed to optimise production efficiency. These range from high output pneumatic glue guns to variable temperature guns.
Glue sticks are available in various sizes for different types and sizes of glue guns. The most common size has a diameter of 11mm. Glue sticks are also available in various lengths, from about 10cm upwards. However, most glue guns will accommodate glue sticks of any length. Hot melt and low temperature glue sticks are available for the different types of glue gun. Hot melt adhesives do not contain any solvents or water. They set when they drop in temperature and this means that they can set quickly.
For industrial applications, different types of glue sticks are available for specialist uses. The commonest diameters are 12 and 43mm. For home use, there are only a few types of glue sticks that are available. Glue sticks have different open times, which is the time taken to form a bond. This varies from a few seconds to several minutes.
Glue guns should be switched on a few minutes before they are used so that the heating element and adhesive can warm up. As the glue stick increases in temperature it melts and then it can be used to glue different materials together. Care should be taken when operating hot glue guns as hot glue can be hazardous.

The question in notebook computers has become, “Does physical size really matter or is it more important to have an all powerful computer that allows you to fit all your software and save as many movies as will fit on your computer?” Another point of concern may be whether the small sizes are more valuable or if the light-weight portability is the key concern. I think the availability of different types of portable computers today lets us genuinely personalize our productivity machines into something that works for us all and doesn’t always have to be generic for everyone.
The production release of the cutting edge macbookair by Apple has really given us a selection with the size and weight and what kind of mobile computer we drag around with us everyday. At less than 3 pounds and thinner than a picture frame, we don’t have to strain our shoulders every time we travel. It has a 13 inch wide-screen and a full-size keyboard. Who wouldn’t be interested? This is the very attribute I have been seeking.
When I first observed the commercial for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to carry laptop computer coming out of that little envelope, small envelope, I was simply amazed. Now, that’s the choice I’ve been searching for. Now it doesn’t have to be a workout to take my portable computer with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh likely as much as the laptop computer, no more heavy lifting, no longer taking up so much extra room! What a miracle!
The age old question of whether size is important is here now and my answer, when it comes to a compact laptop is a resounding, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter as well as weight. For me and my computer smaller is as good as it gets.
