If you are interested in looking into one of the phd programs in Germany that are available, you might be surprised to learn that it takes far fewer years to achieve your doctorate in that country than it does in the United States. There are some main differences in achieving your Ph.D. in that location so you should make sure that you familiarize yourself with the details of their universities and study programs before you begin. Even though you will only be going to the university for about four years, you still need to make sure that you have a good plan in place so that you are able to stick with it.

You may wish to pursue your doctorate in geography or archaeology in Germany. Since you will be finishing your PhD in far fewer years than you would if you were to complete your studies in the U.S., your total cost to attend school will be far less. Just keep in mind that since you are attending school in another country, the entrance requirements may be different and you may need to overcome a language barrier.

Archaeology is a field that many individuals are interested in. Although studying for your doctorate is one way for you to be able to get into this particular field, there are many different subjects that you could study while you are doing so. For example, you can sign up for one of the geography phd programs that are available at most major universities. Having knowledge such as this and understanding geography from thousands of years ago can help to give you a very rewarding career in archaeology. Of course, you may have to travel up a little bit to work but that is something that most of us would enjoy.
