For Those With No 401K, Social Security Is Critical

Posted: under General Interest.
January 31st, 2009

It’s hard to believe that Social Security has been with us for over sixty years – before there was even such as thing as a 401 retirement plan. The first Social Security check went out in the mail in 1940 even though President Roosevelt had signed the Social Security Act into law, five years earlier. Since then, many American seniors have been thankful to receive that monthly financial safety net as they entered their retirement years.

Originally, in the first version of the bill, Social Security benefits were to be paid solely to the principal worker. But, prior to the bill going live, additional benefits for the spouse and child dependents were included.

Many people mistakenly believe that the Social Security system is like an investment annuity, where you lend money to the government and let them invest it with the expectation that you will live off the resulting income. In truth, however, the system is closer to a government welfare program. The collection of payroll taxes , which funds the Social Security program, is handled under the authorization of the Federal Insurance Contributions Act, better known as FICA. FICA is like the enforcement arm of the system. It ensures that every worker “contributes” his or her fair share to the government pool.

Whenever a new generation of workers comes along, they assume the obligation of caring for the previous generation’s retirees. The sum of money that you eventually receive from the government has only a slight relationship to the amount of money that was withheld from your check over the years. From the very beginning, the system has collected over 9 trillion dollars from contributors and paid them out to recipients.

Tough Times Call For Positivity

Posted: under General Interest.
January 31st, 2009

Some people when the going gets tough, seeing opportunity can be hard, but not for those entrepreneurial folk who always seem to move with the times and either grow or diversify.

The web marketing consultant behind the fast growing Rentin Rentals Group who recently launched the Nerja and Marbella Apartments vacation rentals websites has accepted the devlopment roles for two very different types of business startups going into 2009.

The first is a concept devised by Glaswegian James Johnston MBE who, after many years of service to education and teaching, believes that too many folk – especially in the United Kindom – struggle to maintain a positive attitude in their work; relationships and general behaviour. Mr Johnston also identifies that through his extremely wide network of contacts and experiences of his professional life, the most successful people out of the hundreds of people he knows all seem to have a positive approach to life and problems.

“Clearly everybody has difficulties in life of one sort or another – that is part of life and character building of one form or another. Yet it’s the way in which positively charged characters deal with their difficulties and then come out the other side which seems to be one of the deciding factors to how they deal with LIFE and the impact the experiences have those individuals !”

Through his own personal experiences of life, Mr Johnston recognises the positive impact such folk have on other folk who come into contact with such positivity wired characters and believes experiences shared, ideas discussed, and approaches considered with such positive attitude type characters can help reclaim a lot of personal feel good factors within ourselves and help gain ground against negative influences all around the average member of population.

With this in mind, James has embarked on a rebellion of sorts to the standard message portrayed by newspapers and television channels who he remarks “chase viewer figures by constantly publishing bad news! and in turn slowly shape the views of the population towards an overly exagerated negative slant, which harms us personally on many levels and damages our performance as a nation in the world !” Not surprisingly, the new business of James’ is called http://PositiveAttitude.ME and is sure to draw a lot of folk wishing to become more positive minded in how they approach life and their goals.

The other development role is for a unique design of beds which brings a whole new option to tradional bed purchases. The designer is keeping tight lipped on all the detals at this time only until the web site is fully launched and product becomes available. The designer has chosen the name Elemental Beds to represent her new business and as time passes the theme behind the business name will become apparent.

Installing air conditioning will bring huge benefits, whether you’re in IT, retail, hotels, leisure, education or manufacturing. The equipment should be energy efficient, quiet and easy to control. The improvement in air quality through the use of filters greatly improves the quality of life for those that suffer from hay fever or Asthma.

Most of us at one time or another, have had to work, stay or shop in buildings without air conditioning. It’s uncomfortable, tiring and distracting. Recent studies have shown that the ideal temperature to work in is around 20°C. and when the temperature rises by just 4°C to 24°C, productivity drops by as much as 15%, not only that, the chances of accidents will actually rises by 25%.

For retailers, the effect of excessive heat is dramatic. Not only can the stock be damaged by heat and humidity, the bottom line is affected by the lack of customers wishing to dwell in the shop. Installing air conditioning, however large or small will have a positive effect on your profits. Customers will want to shop with you, they will be happy to be out of the heat and dwell longer and spend more.

Hotels, restaurants and leisure facilities have a similar problem, if the atmosphere isn’t right, they won’t stay for long and certainly wont recommend you to their friends. Staff are more productive and effective if the temperature is controlled.

The Causes of Tinnitus – Get The News Here

Posted: under General Interest.
January 30th, 2009

The sound heard within your head is one of the symptoms of tinnitus However, the presence of tinnitus could be an indicator of other problems. Although I’ll go though the symptoms of tinnitus, I will also go over the underlying conditions that may cause it and what possible treatments are available.

However, you must start off by being aware that no medical cure currently exists for tinnitus. Treatments exist to reduce the symptoms of tinnitus but may not offer a complete cure. As a consequence of this, many people today are seeking out non-medical and non-drug related approached to dealing with their tinnitus.

Symptoms tinnitus is that, one can hear voices and sounds which do not exist} Subjective tinnitus occurs when you are the only individual, nobody else, hears the sounds. But if a medical professional is able to hear the sounds, too, using specialized instruments, then this is called objective tinnitus. As far as I have heard of subjective tinnitus is the common condition

Symptoms suggesting inflammation of the eardrum (in other words, sounds) differ according to the medical condition and individual(s). If you hear ringing, knocking, ticking, hissing, whooshing, clicking, etc.You are affected with tinnitus as the sound is not coming from outside. If, after seeing a specialist and having tests done using special hearing equipment, they are unable to hear the sounds you’re hearing, then you have subjective tinnitus, which is the predominant form of the affliction.}

They are many conditions that cause the symptoms of tinnitus, which are problems with the inner ear, damage to auditory nerves, tinnitus from exposure to loud noise, head trauma, whiplash, meniere’s disease, otosclerosis, blocked eustachian tube, and overusing aspirin.

Several treatments can be tried by your specialist including drugs, biofeedback, maskers, etc and as a final resort, surgery.

You may find relief after natural treatment for tinnitus, depending on the severity of your tinnitus. Statistics show that approximately 93% of tinnitus sufferers never receive any relief. A cure has not been found even though there are several different medical research programs looking for one which can be clinically proven.

What place are you going to next for a cure for tinnitus? Like many people do, it may be a good idea to spend time looking for a solution, even if it isn’t medically proven. The same as techniques, exercise etc. It can be done on your own at your home if you are fond of.

The information found here is for research purposes only. No medical treatment is implied. As with any condition it is best to talk with a health professional when considering medical advice.

Take Online Surveys for Money

Posted: under General Interest.
January 29th, 2009

Pity the thousands of companies that sell products and never meet the buyers! Look at all the stuff in a supermarket. Thousands of products and the producers are miles away. How can they plan what they produce without feedback from their ultimate customers, the consumers?!

These large companies must know what consumers think in order to plan their production schedules, improve existing products and design new products. To measure public opinion, they hire market researchers. Market researchers use surveys to measure this opinion and get the answers.

There are thousands of surveys being made every week. How do they get all those people to take the time to sit down and fill them out? The answer is, they make it worth their while; they pay them.

Those payments to survey participants is what makes it possible for you an me to take surveys for money at home and make extra cash.

That’s how you can get paid for surveys working at home or from any place you have an Internet connection.

To take surveys for money you need to first get invited to participate in paid surveys. The way you do this is to volunteer with some good survey makers. There are lots of survey makers, but 20% are good, 40% so-so and 40% are bad news.

The biggest problem is how can you get a good list of good survey makers. The best ones don’t advertise and the worst recruit agressively. You have to hunt for the good ones and avoid the bad ones at all costs.

Follow this link and find out how to find a good list and take surveys for money.

You can make very good money taking surveys for money. Think seriously about it if you would like to generate additional income from the Internet.

A Review of Our Water Softener

Posted: under General Interest.
January 29th, 2009

I have to admit, buying a water softener is really one of life’s less interesting purchases. Almost boring, and for the money you end up spending you’d hope for a little more enjoyment out of it. We got ours at sears. Our desire to buy one started because I had filled out a little card to win a car at a home show, not knowing that it was automatically giving my information to the local water softener services so they could pay you a visit, tell you how bad your water is and try to sign you up for their services. Places like Culligan and other such services. Now, for some people those are a fine deal and worth doing. For anyone who can handle the installation of their own unit and doesn’t mind adding salt themselves (at only $4 a bag it’s not bad) then you’d save a lot more money in the long run by just getting your own water softener and handling the maintenance yourself.

So we thanked the guys for telling us our water was too hard, although they couldn’t come up with any impurities because our town water is actually pretty good. Then we researched various water softeners and went to various home improvement stores the next weekend and priced out our options. We spent about $320 on a decent water softener that would hold about 5-6 bags of salt and that would last about 6-8 months. So instead of paying $20 a month for the professional service plus the unit cost (slightly reduced I think), we could pay $24 for salt every 6-8 months. Seemed like a no brainer to me.

They said it would reduce the amount of soap we needed when washing dishes and clothes and that we’d notice it in the shower when the soap got foamier. To that aspect I think they were right. So it is saving us a bit on soap, which helps even more.

The Lumbar Pain Scale

Posted: under General Interest.
January 29th, 2009

Bearing in mind that pain is an early indication of potential back problems, knowing the difference in pain types is important. Short-term pain is called acute pain. The reason why acute pain exists is to notify the body that there’s something wrong. This sort of pain may be caused by an injury or trauma. Sometimes, acute pain demands immediate attention due to the likelihood of having tissue damage.

When pain is repeated it is considered to be chronic pain. This means that it could be possible that both your body and mind are implicated in this stage. With chronic pain, the body is continually firing pain signals in the nervous system. Self-esteem and relationships may suffer while suffering from chronic pain. Unfortunately many chronic pain sufferers have become accustomed to this type of life. Today, mid back pain and neck pain patients have multiple treatment alternatives available for the differing pain types.

A somewhat new lumbar pain treatment called non-surgical spinal decompression has been capturing popularity in the mid back pain arena. Non-surgical lumbar decompression therapy provides relief of pain associated with herniated disks, bulging disks, degenerative discdisease and sciatica.

If you are suffering from chronic low back pain and would like to learn more about non-surgical decompression therapy as an alternative therapy, please visit their AxiomPainSolutions.com. Matcha Green Tea Powder

Posted: under General Interest.
January 28th, 2009

Matcha Green Tea Powder may be a bit more expensive than other green tea products, but that is because it is hand picked and only the best tea leaves make the cut, and it takes a long time to grind the leaves for the powder. Powdered teas have been around since the Song Dynasty and the preparation and drinking of the tea was performed as a ritual by the Zen Buddhists.

Technically, the cost of the matcha green tea powder depends on the grade of the powder.  One such grade has to do with the location of the the leaf/leaves on the tea bush. Those leaves picked from the top are softer and considered a higher grade whereas the leaves at the bottom are harder and considered to be of lower grade.

Other grade levels that are considered are where the leaves are dried. The leaves are not to be exposed to direct sunlight in order to preserve the quality. Care in grinding, which requires a special technique to maintain the best grade. Lastly, the tea leaves must be kept from oxidation to retain the finer grade of tea leaf.

Matcha is not only used as a tea to drink, but also in chocolates, candies, Swiss rolls, and other desserts. This flavor has been incorporated in other foods such as ice cream, milkshakes, puddings, cheesecake, and  even energy bars because of its nutritional value. The  nutritional value of matcha green tea powder is high as it is loaded with ecgc and antioxidants. Matcha green tea powder can be found in health food stores nearly anywhere.

Matcha green tea also helps your body to eliminate toxins, resulting in some weight loss. This tea is very good for you in many ways, and can be used in many forms. The history of matcha green tea powder is both interesting and informative.
